Outsourcing soothes oil & gas industry burns

The Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010 brought the spotlight back on safety standards in the oil & gas industry. The Oil Spill Commission, set up to investigate the disaster, recommended stricter safety measures for oil majors. These entail higher insurance, better spill prevention techniques, safer equipment and even more restrictive environment regulations. Companies have turned to outsourcing to help improve their safety standards and reduce impact on the environment.
CI for India’s National Manufacturing Policy

Growth of manufacturing in India is being seen as a necessary condition for continued economic growth. India’s proposed National Manufacturing Policy has ambitious plans to create employment for 100 million people and to take the share of manufacturing in India from the current 16% to 25% by 2022. Competitive intelligence is a key ingredient that policy makers need to use for meeting this objective.
Tata Power – fuels power growth

Present per capita electricity consumption in India is about 733 kWh. At a GDP growth rate of 5-9%, demand is expected to double by 2017. With continued economic growth, there will be a need to add up to 190 GW of base load capacity between 2020 and 2030 i.e. up to 19,000 MW p.a. The expected growth would mean that about 40,000 MW will be under construction every year. Tata Power will no doubt benefit…
