October 2008: ValueNotes presented a paper titled Competitive Intelligence in India – perspectives of a local practitioner at the 2008 SCIP European Summit in Rome. Some of the interesting points discussed in the presentation included:
- Why India as an economy cannot be ignored – economic liberalization is forcing Indian businesses to become more competitive; consumer demand is exploding; the knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) sector is booming
- The current state of competitive intelligence in India – most companies did not differentiate between market research and competitive intelligence, although awareness is rising with CI capabilities seeing a jump in recent years due to ‘outsourcing’ contracts
- India strategy – the challenges of gathering competitive intelligence in India
