ValueNotes Connect

Hope you are well. Welcome to the second edition of ValueNotes Connect where we update you on our recent activities; we also share what our research analysts have to say.

Some of the issues we discuss this month include the opportunities of urbanisation in India; the Philippines’ leading position in contact centre services; and the imminent M&A activity in the telecom industry… We hope you enjoy this, and we look forward to your feedback.

Urbanisation of India: Huge growth opportunities
– by Arun Jethmalani
An inescapable trend is the rapid urbanisation of India. Existing cities are growing rapidly in all directions, some are growing vertically; and many villages now resemble towns. This will create huge opportunity; and the biggest is likely to be in low-cost housing.
Philippines: gaining in voice BPO
– by Jui Narendran
The Philippines has been a destination of choice for BPO services, particularly voice-based. While it may lead in contact centre offshoring, the country needs to increase non-voice processes since the business of outsourcing has moved up the value chain.
M&A deals in telecom sector likely to soar
– by Shima Kalyanpur
In 2010, the telecom sector surpassed the financial services sector as the “busiest” M&A market. An increase in the volume of M&A deals in the telecom sector in 2011 is inevitable. Tempting target valuations are expected to be the primary driver.
Indian M&A falls in Q1 2011, but prospects still bright
– by Aniket Pargaonkar
As cash-rich Indian companies continue to hunt for strategic bargains globally, despite the slow start, it is expected that 2011 will see a high volume of M&A activity in India. In fact India and China are expected to be the most active buyers as attractive valuations drive deals globally.
