The Rationale
Competitive intelligence is the process of gathering and analysing
information on ones environment, industry, competitors and
customers for informed decision-making. In the form that it is practised
in India today, competitive intelligence (CI) is known by different
names in different companies. Not all organisations have a separate
division or department to undertake competitive intelligence, and
not all of them do it in a systematic manner. However, all organisations
have a need for it and, most often, make at least some informal
attempts to understand their competitive environment.
There are very few educational courses that actually teach CI in
a practical and on the street way.
