Indian healthcare delivery system needs investment of USD 245 bln in the next two decades
India will require 3 million doctors and 3.5 million hospital beds by 2034 to fight shortage of resources. India can also leverage its strength as a world leader in vaccine manufacturing (currently contributes 60% of global production) to sharpen its focus on preventive care. Apollo Hospitals (AHEL) to add 2,000 beds over the next two financial years at a cost of INR 15 bln
AHEL will also add 1,000 beds by the end of the current financial year. This will be over and above the plan for 2,000 beds. It is looking at various avenues, including private equity, to fund the expansion. Read more >>

Tata Steel and Sankara Eye Hospital to establish a 100-bed super speciality eye hospital in Odisha
Tata Steel will invest INR 423 million in the hospital that will be implemented and operated by Sankara Eye Hospital. It will be built over 4.5 acres of land and will become operational within a year. Read more >>
CDC Group acquires 10-15% stake in Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty’s Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospitals

Chhattisgarh to link five medical colleges to 27 district hospitals for telemedicine services
The step is an attempt to provide timely and quality healthcare to patients, particularly gynaecological and surgical. The specialists from medical colleges will be linked to the doctors in the districts via videoconferencing through Skype.

Four government hospitals, including King George Hospital to be fully computerised in 2015
