- Do you think faster project deliveries or shorter turnaround times can give you a significant competitive advantage?
- Are lack of in-house research resources restricting your consulting bandwidth?
- Are you unable to deliver India-related consulting assignments due to a lack of local expertise?
Over the last decade, ValueNotes has partnered with global strategy consulting firms, and offered them a variety of research services via flexible engagement models. Our services have helped consultants address specific resource constraints and expand global coverage. Assignments have included primary research across geographies, regular sector-specific news monitoring, ad-hoc desk research, benchmarking & market opportunity studies, partner selection, due diligence and competitive intelligence. Examples of some of our recent projects include:
Market intelligence on the lighting solutions business: One of the largest providers of lighting solutions for business, home and outdoor applications required an overview of the lighting solutions market in Australia, India and Singapore. In-depth interviews with hypermarkets, supermarkets and contractors were conducted in these regions to identify retailers dealing in lighting systems, determine the brands and their distribution channels, and to understand how buying decisions were made.
News monitoring for a global consulting firm: As a mission critical engagement for our client, whose business was to provide news updates to senior management of Fortune 500 companies, this engagement worked on a very short turnaround time. Over 150 news stories were abstracted, classified, tagged and uploaded everyday across a range of industries such as insurance, logistics, medical devices, shipping, telecom, etc. Information was gathered from online information databases and the Internet.
Market opportunity & expansion strategy in the Indian pumps industry: A consulting firm required a study on the positive displacement (PD) pump market in India to help its client, a US pump manufacturer, with a market opportunity and expansion strategy plan for the Indian market. The report established the market size & structure, distribution channels, promotion strategies, competitor landscape, and historical & future growth trends for seven types of PD pumps. Mystery shopping was used to determine product price points.
Competitive intelligence on the operations of a software company: The client required sensitive information on the operations of a leading software company in India to establish its revenues. The report provided a revenue breakdown of the company’s operations in India by product, vertical and region. We conducted in-depth interviews with the company’s employees, ex-employees and partners, to investigate the sales structure and targets by region. We used a top-down and bottoms-up approach to obtain high level numbers and validate them with on-the-ground sales targets.
Benchmarking study of the German insurance industry: A consulting firm wanted to benchmark the tax structure and benefits of the German insurance industry in Germany. We provided details on the various products available, relevant indicators that established the scale and structure of the industry, and an analysis of the tax system governing the insurance companies, the insurance intermediaries, and the insured.
Evaluation & benchmarking of Indian vendors in the legal publishing industry: The client required a detailed study of select offshore vendors including an assessment of their capabilities, pricing patterns, and billing rates in a variety of sub-segments within the legal publishing sector. In-depth interviews were conducted with senior executives of BPOs in the Indian publishing sector.
Competitive analysis of vaccines R&D in India: A pharmaceutical corporation wanted to identify the organisations involved in R&D and manufacture of specific vaccines in India, to help formulate their India strategy for these vaccines. We established the level of R&D in Indian universities, research institutes, and pharmaceutical & biotech firms; the technologies used; and the government involvement in vaccine research.
